Projects
Perspective Project Management can help solve your most pressing business needs, from getting a handle on your data to reducing operational costs to building interactive products that engage your customers. Here are a few of the most recent projects we’ve completed.
The Mothership
About the Client: The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is the international governing body for the sport of women’s flat track roller derby and a membership organization for leagues to collaborate and network. The WFTDA serves 200 member and apprentice leagues in 6 countries.
About the Project: Founded in 2004 and volunteer owned and operated, the WFTDA had managed their membership data using individual spreadsheets and documents. With no single system of record, the organization felt major growing pains as it experienced a surge in membership over the past few years. Perspective Project Management analyzed business processes and worked with a development company to implement a custom membership system (dubbed “The Mothership” by WFTDA members) that will serve the organization and its members well into the future.
800 BLUE MAN Voice Menu System
About the Client: The comedy, music, and theatrics of Blue Man Group is infamous. But behind the show, Blue Man Productions takes care of all the logistical details that go into producing an international phenomenon. One of those details: selling tickets. More than 17 million people have seen Blue Man Group perform, many of whom bought their tickets via 800 BLUE MAN.
About the Project: With shows in a dozen cities around the world, Blue Man Group’s telephone ticketing system includes some pretty smart features (such as offering tickets to the show in Las Vegas first if that’s where you happen to be calling from). A previous incarnation of the system was expensive to maintain and required a vendor to make any changes. While they were happy with the product itself, they weren’t happy with the overhead. Developers at Perspective Project Management recreated the system with open source tools, greatly reducing operating costs. We also developed a menu management system that allows BMG employees to configure changes to the menu options when necessary (such as changes to show schedules), eliminating their dependence on an outside vendor for common operational tasks.
Industrial Efficiency Policy Database
About the Client: The Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP) was established by the ClimateWorks Foundation as a global hub of expertise and information to increase energy efficiency reduce greenhouse gases in the industrial sector.
About the Project: In July of 2011, IIP published a research report that suggests 10 keys for creating an effective energy policy package. The underlying research behind the report includes analyses of dozens of policies, supporting programs, and industry characteristics of 6 different countries. Perspective Project Management was hired by design firm MSDS to create a functional specification and oversee the development of an online, interactive database that allows users to review this research (iepd.iipnetwork.org). In addition, the database is supported by a content management system that allows IIP to quickly and easily update the site as they collect and analyze data from additional countries.
